As normal work resumed nationwide last week Wednesday after the Christmas and New Year celebrations, Information Officers went round the State Secretariat to feel the pulse of Civil servants, as well as visitors to the complex on their prospects for the New Year.
Miss Imiete Success of the Ministry of Finance said ”I expect greater things to happen this year than last year and in the area of security I want government to improve on last year as there were too many killings.
In his expectation for the New Year, Dedua Kingsley a visitor to the Secretariat said ”I want to be employed, then I can think about marriage by the end of this year.”
Patrick Luke Nsaneh of the Ministry of Environment on his part stated ”I expect another salary increase and employment for the unemployed in order to check social vices.
In his contribution, a Senior Administrative Officer in Ministry of Works, Rev. Monday Inordee said ”I look unto the new year with optimism, hope and with fervent belief that government in consonance with God’s principles, will make the Civil Service better than last year.
Rev. Inordee also said ” government tried by promoting civil servants last year, adding that even during the yuletide, civil servants were been catered for with the provision of rice and other food items.”
He noted that ”salaries were increased last year and urged civil servants to reciprocate the gesture by improving on their present performance.
According to Miss Rose Lot, an Executive Officer in the Ministry of Sports, ”this year will be good for the people of the State, and I want government to send workers on training to improve on their performances.”
In her opinion, a Chief typist in the Ministry of Sports, Mrs. Ada Dibia said ”I want the new year to bring progress, togetherness, peace and love in the State.”
”Government should look into payment of Xmas bonus as it used to be before and to also create employment.”
