Members of Bonny Okada Riders/Owners Association (BOROA) have been called upon to eschew reckless riding in the island.
The warning was made by the chairman of the association, Comrade Gibson A. Banigo in Bonny, the headquarters of Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State on Monday, during a chat with our reporter.
Banigo said that the association cannot afford to record any accident, hence the need to educate the riders on safe operations.
He charged all members to be dedicated to their operations and warned against smoking and drinking while on duty.
According to Banigo, the association will not condone any okada rider who will not adhere to the rules of the association”. May God have mercies on all members who travel to their respective homes for the festive period, charging all to avoid excessive drinking habit.
The chairman used the medium to send a good will message to the Amayanabo In Council, King Edward Asemini William Dappa Pepple and other title holders of Bonny Kingdom for peaceful co-existence among non-indigenes in Bonny Island.
He also lauded the Bonny Local Government Area, chairman, Hon. (Barr.) Edward E. Pepple for his developmental strides in the area, wishing them more God’s blessings in their leadership.
The BOROA chairman as well felicitated with the council boss for the forthcoming of Bonny carnival, appealing to all to show concern and be a partaker in a well deserved manner.
In his speech, the association secretary, Comrade Usen J. Ekanem appealed to all members to adhere to the security order, as it has been scheduled that between 5.30am 7pm any member who may default by disobeying the time schedule will have himself to be blame.
The association scribe, lauded his chairman’s move, by cautioning members on reckless riding at this festive period, adding that the man who rides safe is the man who works best.
In his remarks, the Vice chairman, Comrade Kufre Okorie lauded all members who ride safely in 2012, praying for them to live long.
The vice chairman appealed to the JTF commander to please extend the hour of 7pm to 9pm.
He however called on the Local Government Chairman to provide more buses for hospitals in the area.###
