NFS: Win At All Costs Syndrome Surfaces

The ongoing 18th National Sports Festival being hosted by Lagos State tagged “Eko 2012 has propped up the much anticipated win at all cost syndrome as athletes who had earlier featured for Bayelsa State at Calabar in the swimming event were featured by Rivers State.
This development prompted the authority concerned to disqualify Rivers State in that particular event. Meaning Rivers State has lost one of her intended gold medals to claim 160 gold medals target at the competition.
So far, the medal table shows, Delta State leading in day seven (7), Rivers State strongly contesting to narrow the gap.
Lagos State, the host is behind Rivers, Ondo and Bayelsa States are chasing the medals as to increase their total number of medals as they close in neck to neck.
In another ugly development, Anambra State featured a Cameroonian in the weightlifting event, the authority concerned has already taken action to that effect by subjecting the coach of that event and the state Director of Sports, including the commissioner for Sports to answer for violating the rules of the games.
Rivers State Director of Sports, Sir. Daobu Harvest Harry may also answer for the state featuring ineligible athletes in swimming.
Rivers State is the defending champions of the 18th National Sports festival in Lagos following her victory at the 17th National Sports Festival in Port Harcourt, when she hosted the Garden City Games, also known as Unity Games.
All may not be well with the Rivers team earlier promise of 160 medals owing to the fact that Delta is fast increasing her medal tally by the day with each event as the competition count it 8th day of the time of filing in this report. ###
