The House Committee chairman on Sports in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Kelechi Godspower Nwogu, representing Omuma Local Government Area has kicked off his sponsored football competition amongst youths in his local government, Omuma on Sunday 2nd of December, 2012.
According to Hon. Nwogu, the aim of the competition is to give a chance to the football talents, as they would be taken care of the highest level if they could only believe in themselves as they shun social vices and make a living through football.
Hon. Nwogu himself we learnt is a sound footballer who had made his mark amongst his peers, he still plays even as he has become a legislator at the state level.
He promised to sustained the competition by helping all those that would be discovered from the competition that are prepared to make football their career in life.
The Super Eagles immediate past and the most decorated Nigerian footballer living, Kanu Nwankwo graced theopening ceremony.###
