Garlic, Your Food, Your Medicine, Your Defender

Untill man turns back to God and recognize the ever present presence of God, man will continue to wallop in ignorance and misery. We have relegated the abundant blessings given to us by God. What is the penalty?
God made medicine in the food we eat. The spice we use in cooking, leaves, oil, salt, water and even the fire woods are all God’s love given to us as food and medicine.
Garlic- Allium sativum is an erect biennial herb of the onion family, normally grown as an annual with condensed roots, flattened stem and narrow flat leaves. Garlic has been highly valued for centuries all over the world for its heath-building qualities. Khanum Khoufogt, the builder of one of the oldest pyramid (4500BC) was among the first to recognize the virtues of garlic, for he decreed that all his workers should take garlic everyday to maintain their health and strength. Hippocrates, the father of medicine (357 – 410BC) recommended the use of garlic in infectious diseases and particularly prescribed it for intestinal disorder. Garlic is believe to have originated from Central Asia and was known to the Chinese as far back as 3,000 BC, it continues to be one of the staple spices of the Chinese diet till date. Egyptians, Greeks and Romans also used garlic both as a staple food and as a medicine for several ailments. It spread to all parts of the world and is now widely grown in the Mediterranean region. India, Philippian, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Brazil and Mexico. An analysis of garlic shows it contains many nutrients for the maintenance of good health. In herbal medicine, garlic has been traditionally used for asthma, deafness, leprosy, bronchial congestion, arteriosclerosis, fever, worms and liver and gall bladder trouble. Garlic is food for heart, a food for the hair, a stimulant to appetite, a strength-giving food, useful in leucoderma, piles, catarrhal disorders. Its mineral and vitamin contents are calcium, phosphorus, iron, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, and vitamin C. It also contains traces of iodine, sulphur, chlorine and its calorific value is 145.
The bulb of this wonderful spice yield and essential oil containing allylpropyl, disulphide, diallyldisulphide and two other sulphur compounds, its also antiseptic and hypotensive (lowering high blood pressure) allicin, allisatin I and allisatin II. Clinical experiments in recent times have confirmed several ancient beliefs about the healing value of garlic. These in fact have proven much greater power of garlic than previously known. The unpleasant odour of garlic is due to it sulphur content which has remarkable medicinal virtues: Garlic juice has the most beneficial effect on the entire body system. This miracle bulb is so potent and penetrating that the help dissolve accumulation of mucus in the sinus cavities, bronchial tubes and the lungs. It help in the expulsion of poison from the body through pores of the skin (detoxifiers).
Garlic has proved effective in the diseases of the chest. It reduces foetidity, gangrene stinking of the breath in pulmonary gangrene. Useful in the treatment of tuberculosis, the Indians in their ayurvelic approach boil garlic in milk and water as a marvelous remedy for pneumonia, this decoction with honey have made excellent remedy for asthma.
Garlic is one of the most beneficial herbs for the digestive system. It is good for the lymph and aids the elimination of noxious waste or movement of the intestines and the secretion of the digestive juices. Crushed gloves of garlic may be infused in water or milk and taken for all disorders of digestion. It has an antiseptic effect and is an excellent remedy for infection diseases and inflammations of the stomach and intestine.
Garlic glove is an excellent worm expeller. It is also good in treating various forms of diarrhea problems such as colitis, dysentery and many other intestinal disorders can be successfully treated with fresh garlic. Garlic has the ability to destroy harmful bacteria in the intestinal without negatively affecting the beneficial organisms which aids in digestion like the chemical antibiotics.
Modern man has eaten himself to disease stricken condition thereby facing many terrible condition which high blood pressure is not one of them. It also slows the pulse and modifies the heart rhythm, besides relieving symptoms of dizziness, shortness of breath and formation of gas within the digestive tract. In Russia, garlic is used extensively in the treatment of rheumatism and associated diseases. Even in Britain, garlic is recommended for rheumatic affliction. Recent experiments in Japan tested a garlic extract on patients with lumbago and arthritis with a large number being benefited without any undesirable side-effects. Its anti-inflammatory property accounts for its effectiveness in the treatment of arthritis and rheumatism. Following a recent study, a West German doctor claim that garlic may prevent heart attack. It helps to break up cholesterol in the blood vessels, thereby preventing the hardening of arteries which leads to high blood pressure and heart attack. If a patient takes garlic after a heart attack the cholesterol level comes down.
Today dreaded diseases and blood disorders have created more fears in the society than death, and one of those diseases is cancer. No thanks to western medical science. The use of garlic preparation has been successfully proven potent against-caner in both animal and human being studies. A study report tells of mice, being injected with cancer cell, some of which were treated with garlic and some were not. Those that were not given garlic diet within 16days while the ones treated with garlic lived. In Russian studies, garlic preparation has been found to retard tumour growth not only in animal, but also in human being writes Dr. Airola.
Dr. Taring Abbdullah, a US researcher and staff physician of the Akbar Clinic and Research institute in panama city, Florida, said recently that he and his colleagues found that white blood cells from six patient given garlic killed 139 percent more tumour cells in a lab dish than did cells from people who did not eat garlic.
Garlic is an excellent remedy fro whopping cough. Garlic is known and regarded as one of the best rejuvenators. It has been found to help remove toxins, revitalize the blood, stimulate circulation and promote intestinal flora or colony of bacteria that prevent infection or harmful bacteria.
On the skin garlic has been successful in variety of skin disorder. Pimples disappear without a scar when rubbed on the skin several times a day. Garlic has been used in all forms of skin problems both through the external application and internally which helps in purifying the blood from within. As an antiseptic, it has been used in wounds and ulcers with successful results than any other medication you can image. It is also considered an excellent remedy for diphtheria. Chew a clove of garlic and cure yourself of mucous membranes within a short time.
