Fred Igwe in a Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) forum in Port Harcourt at the NUJ temporary office, Tide Building penultimate weeks.
According to Igwe, the Sports House has been converted to a full blown hotel and there is nothing he could do as Commissioner for Sports, Rivers State. He also confessed that he had benefited from the Hotel as at the time he was learning how to swim.
He however said the golfers are still retain their quarters as was originally designed for that purpose, right from the time the hotel was owned and managed by the Rivers State Sports Council.
To this end, the Combat Sports Exponent who represented Rivers state in the 60s at the national level, Rev. (Dr.) Sokari Soberekon has called on the Rivers State government to release Hotel Olympia to Rivers Sports Council for Rivers sportsmen and women to use the facility, pointing out that Hotel Olympia was strictly built for sportsmen and women. ####
