Rivers: Double Taxation To End Soon – Lawmaker

Lawmaker representing Eleme Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Josiah John Olu has assured the people and those doing business in the state that the taxation bill will be implemented to the latter when passed into law.
The lawmaker told newsmen in his office shortly after the public hearing on taxes and levies harmonization organized by the RSHA committee on taxation on Tuesday November 20, 2012 in the main auditorium of the Assembly complex, saying that the law will be made public that no one will be ignorant of it.
Josiah assured that by the time the bill is signed into law, Ministry of Justice shall be contacted to make copies of the law public so that everybody can get a copy of the law from the market.
According to the lawmaker, the law will so harmonized the tax that it will be easy for the payers to pay and have rest of mind that they have paid their tax.
He argued that by that time one will not pay tax in one local government area and still be confronted in the other on the same tax, adding that this will check and eliminate touts from the system.
Olu pointed out that this law will make the state conducive for business and investors to operate in the state. ###
