Eliozu Youth Movement Elects Glory Ejekwu As President …Governorship Candidate Conduct Free And Fair Election

The Eliozu Youth Movement in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State has elected a new president, Comrade Glory Uchena Ejekwu, with others to pilot the affairs of the youths of the community.
The election, which took place on 17th November, 2012, was held at the Eliozu Community Town Hall. The president, who scored 148 votes to capture the seat, stated that his tenure would transform Eliozu Community in the areas of sanitation, security, water, employment and electricity, among others.
The newly elected president told journalists that, as a former sanitation chairman in the community, he would bring his wealth of knowledge to bear in terms of cleaning his community once again.
Comrade Ejekwu thanked God Almighty and promised not to disappoint his people as he would stick to his seven-point agenda, adding that he would collaborate and negotiate with the few companies in the community to achieve his plan.
On the issue of power, he said as former electricity chairman, he would contact the ministry of power and NDDC to secure transformers for his people.
Asked why the election was peaceful, he stated that Eliozu community was peace-loving and that the youths had come to realize that hooliganism, communal clash and restiveness were becoming outdated.
He commended those who voted for him and appealed to those who contested with him to join him to build the Eliozu Community for the benefit of all.
Also speaking the paramount Ruler of Eliozu community Eze I. J. Woku, Ozu the 2nd, advised the elected president and his cabinet to be peaceful, faithful to one another and maintain love.
Eze Woku said they should put God first in all their understanding and be wise in their decisions, while calling a spade a spade. He advised them to abstain from bribery, corruption and shun bad character, noting that, among them, there must be a Judas.
The paramount Ruler stated that the greater thing was that there was no blood-shed during and after the election.
Commenting on the peaceful Eliozu Youth Election, the outgoing president, Comrade Prince Solomon Ogbonda said he was happy because the election was free, fair and credible.
He described Eliozu as peace-loving, adding that having been a former president of the youth, he was an embodiment of peace.
On his achievement as a former youth President of Eliozu, he said he had contributed greatly in the area of water supply, grading of roads, supply of transformers, among others. On conduct of one of the most peaceful elections in the state, the out going president attributed the success to the election chairman, a seasoned politician, and former governorship candidate in the state, Engr. Worlu Joshua.
In his remark, the election chairman of Eliozu Youth Movement, Engr. Worlu Joshua, commended the peaceful nature of the election and thanked the youths for making him proud.
Engr. Worlu said he accepted the position to show that community building was not only for few people but all who love the community.
The election chairman stated that he contested the governorship position last year in Rivers State but accepted this honour given to him by his community.
Others elected were Ezebuniro Omunakwe, Financial Secretary, Boma P. Orlu, Treasurer, Mr. Elenwo Chijioke, among others. ####
