Roger Federer Thrashes Janko Tipsarevic

Roger Federer began his campaign at the ATP World Tour Finals with a dominant 6-3 6-1 victory over Janko Tipsarevic at the O2 Arena.
The second seed, who is chasing a seventh title in the season-ending event, was never troubled by his Serbian opponent as he completed the win in just one hour and nine minutes.
Tipsarevic, who has been battling illness in the run up to the tournament, showed some signs of promise towards the end of the first set but was otherwise outclassed.
Federer set the tone for the match early on as he held to love in the first game before breaking Tipsarevic’s serve in the second.
Tipsarevic began to find his feet and looked more assured as the set progressed, even taking the 17-time grand slam champion’s serve to deuce in the seventh game.
But Federer, who lost just one point behind his first serve, held his nerve to retain his advantage and two games had taken the set, rounding things off with a huge ace.
Tipsarevic began the second set with a comfortable hold but in came unstuck in his next service game, saving two break points before netting a forehand on the third.
The Serb showed good touch from the baseline but Federer was still one step ahead of him and broke again in the fifth game of the second set as he stroked a forehand down the line.
Federer rounded the match off with another break of serve to move into an early lead in Group B, with Tipsarevic hoping to bounce back against David Ferrer and Juan Martin Del Potro.
