The President of Ogoni Youth Rescue Foundation a Non Governmental and a faith base organization, Pastor Nature Dumale Ikienghe said due to the vast environmental pollution and rate of social vices springing up in Ogoni recently they are ready to change and redirect the negative thinking of Ogoni Youths.
Pastor Ikienghe who is also the National President of Light of Glory Youth outreach stated this in Port Harcourt after an Executive Council Meeting of the body, on 6th November, 2012.
He told the press that their organization is ready to clean Ogoni of evil doings such as killing, kidnapping, armed robbery and communal.
The President said it is high time Ogoni benefit from the good things in the land as he urged the Youths to toe the part of honour. He stated that as those who started the Amnesty Programme of the Federal Government, they are ready to use dialogue, prayers, fasting, and seminars to end the evils in the land.
In a chat with our correspondent, the President of Ogoni Youth Rescue Foundation said since guns were submitted to the Federal Government during the Amnesty, there are pockets of other criminal activities that need to be completed uprooted.
Some of those social and economic disorder, he said are kidnapping, illegal mining of Crude, idle worship, stealing and some pocket of Youth restiveness damping the good image of the Ogoni People. He said the mission is to sensitize the people on of the danger in cultism and artisanal refinery saying recently police killed some youths who were engaged in kidnapping in some of the villages in Ogoni.
The President pointed out that the danger of the illegal refinery is as enormous as a lot of youths have lost their lives in the name of refining crude to make quick money.
The Pastor said God spared his life and he has the mandate to give hope to the hopeless Ogonis, saying that better days are here and that they should denounce evil in the land to attract prosperity.
On the area of finance, he said the group will trust in God and pray that God should touch the heart of some well to-do citizen who might support the concept while praying in that the future government and corporate organizations will assist them.
He said the 12 member executive are contributing financially to reach the target, while expecting other support from resource persons. Pastor Nature said some of their activities include fasting and prayers and confession of sins of Ogoni Youths, especially those who kill, maim and cause blood shed, saying God should forgive all their sins including those who killed the 4 prominent Ogoni Chiefs, noting that this is a right step in the right direction.
On the delay of the UNEP report implementation, the group lamented the delay, stressing that the Ogoni people have been marginalized for long, but expressed hope that very soon something positive will take place.
Also speaking the Vice Chairman of the body, Comrade Young Nkpa maintained that the body is on a rescue mission to campaign against all manner of evil tendencies through sensitization, targeting at the multi facet stakeholders, the youths, women group, men of God and youth groups to find an everlasting solution to evil bunkering and illegal refining, kidnapping, arm robbery, blood bath, among others.
Comrade Nkpa said for Ogoni Youths to succeed they must embrace education in all ramification while hoping that this group will raise another new ways where youths can be positively engage without polluting the environment to their detriment.###
