The chief nursing mother of the Port Harcourt children home Borokiri Mrs. Mata Choko has made a passionate appeal to the state government and relevant authorities in the state for more funding of the home to enable it run effectively.
Mrs. Mata Choko made the appeal during the one year birthday celebration of Little Magi Jack at the home. She said due to high cost of goods in the country especially during this period of the flood disaster, they find it very challenging to meet up with the daily running of the home.
She urged corporate bodies in the state to join hands wit the government and make donations to the hone while also promising to make judicious use of any donation to get.
In her speech, the godmother of Little Magi Jack, Mrs. Rosemary Boye Irisominabo who was very emotional advised women to always be ready before giving birth to children. She insisted that they went to the children’s home to celebrate their son’s one year birthday with the motherless babies as a way of showing appreciation to God Almighty and give the children a sense of belonging.
Mrs. Irisominabo stressed that it is disheartening to see children being abandoned by their parents. She urged the state government to make laws that will punish any parent who abandons his child.
The highlight of the day was the presentation of gift items to the child by the parents of Magi Jack. ####
