Barely two weeks today, the compound of Comrade Theophilus Worlu JP) in Rumuekini community, Obi/Akpor local government area of Rivers State, was raided by men suspected to be assassins who operated with sophisticated guns and other weapons that scared away community people and police officers within the area.
Speaking to news men in his compound at his country home, Rumuekini recently, comrade Theophilus Worlu (JP), State Treasurer, Nigeria Union of Teachers, Rivers State wing, said Tuesday 2nd October, 2012, would remain a day in his life he would ever live to remember, saying he was in Abuja when his wife called him on phone talking to him in pains as hired assassins defied all security apparatus put in place in his compound, searching for him.
According to Worlu (JP) as he cried out for help asking the Inspector General of Police, the governor of Rivers State, to re-enforce and equip police men and other security agencies designated to handle security matters in Rumuekini community, the squad of hired assassins that operated in his compound on the afore-mentioned date, killed one Abrahim Mohammed, his security man on duty, as well as brutalized both Abrahim Di and Amadu, brothers of the security officer who came to visit him, was suspected to have been headed by one ThankGod and one Wali.
He stressed that his wife Mrs. Worlu and second daughter were also brutalized and molested. They ransacked his entire house, raided everywhere, collected reasonable sum of money from his wife, took his daughter’s G.S.M phone, jewelries and other valuables from his house. His gate, built with strong iron was damaged soon after they shot dead his security man who is from the northern part of the country.
Mrs. Worlu (JP) who spoke to newsmen, confirmed that their major target was her husband Comrade Theophilus Worlu (JP), because according to her they were shouting “where is this man!” “Where is this man?” It was when they finally forced all other doors of the house open and discovered her husband was not at home that they left.
She further stressed that it was an operation of four (4) men actually suspected to have been headed by one ThankGod and one Wali as their faces were not covered with any mask.
Mrs. Worlu(JP) told newsmen that the operation took place by 2pm on Friday. On Tuesday, 2nd October, 2012 the same two unscrupulous boys chased her second son with gun and wounded him before they carried out the operation.
Some people interviewed said the operation was not armed robbery but for assassination due to some lingering crises in the family of comrade Theophilus Worlu (JP) who doubled as a community leader.
They said if a decisive security measure is not taken early enough, more damages would take place in the near future. ###
