Rivers: LGSC Threatens To Sue Staff Over Record Falsification

The Rivers State Local Government Service Commission(RSLGSC) has threatened to not only discipline staff who falsify their personal records, but to prosecute them at the law court.
The chairman of the Commission in the State, Chief Azubuike Nmerukini made this known in Bonny, headquarters of Bonny Local Govt Area of Rivers State recently during a-meet-the staff tour of the council. Represented by the Supervisory Commissioner in charge of Bonny Local Govt in the Commission, Barr. Paul Awoyesuku, Nmerukini lamented that , “the trend has reached an alarming rate, especially among principal staff of the service to the point that some staff have so reduced their age that their children are now older than them”. He warned that the Commission can no longer tolerate this. The chairman said since the inception of the present commission only records of junior and middle level staff are forwarded to the Commission for retirement, while the principal staff stay put in the service. Nmerukini however assured the staff that their welfare will be given its rightful position, provided they play their roles by being regular to duty.
Earlier, while welcoming the Commission to the L.G.A, the Head of Local Govt Administration in Bonny, Mr Azubuike Singer said the council has a staff strength of 335,excluding health workers and that their salaries have been paid up to date. Singer said a cordial relationship exists between career staff and the political class, adding that junior staff promotion was regularly conducted and results promptly released in line with the Commission’s directive. The Head of Local Govt Administration also told the visitors that the Council has acquired a 45 -seater mass transit marine boat to ease transportation between Bonny and Port Harcourt.
