The St. Stephens Anglican Church Nkpolu, Rumuigbo Parish, the City of Grace has bestowed meritorious awards to Chief Allwell Igbor the former caretaker committee (CTC) chairman of Emohua local government area of Rivers State, Elder A. O. Owhonda, JP, a 92 years old man and the oldest man in Nkpolu Rumuigbo and other six sons of Ikwerre extraction.
The ceremony took place at the St. Stephens Anglican Church parish in Obio/Akpor Local government Area of Rivers State.
In a chat with journalists at the ceremony the vicar in charge of the parish Rev. Canon Ranson G. O Ngoke JP who expressed his profound gratitude for the response of the awardees at the ceremony disclosed that the award was in recognition of their contributions in the development of the church especially at the time of their need as it was stated that a friend in need is a friend indeed stressing that their contributions have actually manifested that they are good friends of the parish hence they deemed it necessary to honour them.
According to him, “the awardees rendered enormous assistance to the church stressing that the award is an exemplary act of God and a reward to them stressing that the church would also extend the award gesture to others who have contributed to the church in the same vein in no distant time.
In a chat with journalists Chief Allwell Igbor expressed joy for the award bestowed on him.
According to him, I was shocked when the letter of the invitation for the award was sent to me, I wondered what I have done to deserve the great award.
Chief Igbor who hails from Ibaa in Emohua LGA of Rivers State recalled how he donated some chairs to the parish in 2001 stressing that such was a little token to deserve the award pointing out that he will continue to serve and contribute in the vineyard of the Lord all the days of his life praying that God should open way for him and his family.
He commended the vicar in charge and entire members of the parish for the award and dedicated the award to God. ###
