The Chelsea midfielder was the last player to join up with the team after Joseph Yobo pulled out due to injury
Mikel Obi, Chelsea midfielder finally arrived the Metropolitan camp of the Super Eagles on Wednesday afternoon.
He had been held up by visa issues and when he finally showed up, he revealed that he was super fit for the encounter against Liberia.
Speculations had been rife in the media that the midfielder was playing hide and seek with the Eagles’ coaching crew.
But all that was laid to rest on Wednesday when he arrived in camp. Obi had been held up because of the issuance of a Ukrainian visa and may have forced the protocol team at Chelsea to release his passport for the Nigeria versus Liberia game on Saturday.
“We must reduce the level of speculation on our top players as that could dampen their spirit and affect performance on the pitch,” said Keshi.
Mikel [Obi] is here now and ready to play on Saturday and if we found him suitable, he would be played because he has shown enough national commitment”, Keshi added.
Keshi called on Nigerians to continue to support the team with prayers.
“I will not be here talking to you if I think the job of qualifying Nigeria for the Nations Cup is too big for me,” the coach said at the media briefing on Wednesday.
“But I need the support of all Nigerians including critics of the team and together we can take the national team to greater heights”, Keshi added.
