The people of Ubima and Umuanwa communities all in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State are living in fear of being arrested following the discovery of a lifeless body of a kidnapped expatriate dumped at Ubima Omuanwa Road.
It would be recalled that three weeks ago an expatriate who was taking measurement in a site at Ipo community close to the Port Harcourt International Airport Omuagwa, in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State was kidnapped by an unknown gunmen and taken to unknown destination.
The incident made the Rivers Stated government to go in search of the kidnapped victim with a helicopter hovering round the local government area.
The Rivers State police command on getting the information dispatched some military officers to Omuanwa and Ubima to search for the expatriate, but he was not found.
On Monday 8th October, 2012 the lifeless body of the kidnapped whiteman was found close to where the Wilbros Company Limited laid their pipes across to Ubima Omuanwa Road linking Omoku Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government.
Some residents of Ubima, Omuanwa, Mr. Okey and Chinedu who spoke with the Political Editor of The Newswriter said the people of the community were expressing fear that the police would arrest them on what they do not know how it happened.
They called on the police to ensure that they arrest the actual hoodlums who are involved in the kidnap of the expatriate and not the innocent people.
Meanwhile the body of the late expatriate which was already decomposing before it was found has been deposited in an undisclosed mortuary in Port Harcourt.
When The Newswriter called the PPRO on phone, on the matter, he confirmed that the corpse of the late expatriate was found at Ubima Road, stressing that investigation is still on. ###
