In pursuance of his reach out leadership style, the Senator representing South-East Senatorial District of Rivers State, Senator Magnus Abe has visited Baen and Kono communities in Khana Local Government Area.
At Baen, Sen. Abe inspected the water project he donated to the community and visited the refurbished Kono Jetty that aid travellers to Opobo/Nkoro and Andoni Local Government Areas of Rivers State as well as neighbouring Ikot Abasi in Akwa Ibom State.
The jetty had been in disrepair, inconveniencing users but for the intervention of the Senator who; on his way to Opobo/Nkoro recently saw the state of the structure and refurbished it to ease the movement of persons, goods and services in that axis of the constituency.
Addressing his constituents that defy heavy down pour to receive him in Baen, Senator Abe commended their level of support, saying “it has assisted me in the discharge of my duties to the people of my senatorial district”.
He advised the people to make judicious use of the water stressing that “it would help your domestic activities and consumption needs”.
While urging them to protect and maintain public facilities in the community, the Senator explained that Governor Amaechi was determined to make a difference in governance through positive policies and promised to “tell the Governor that the people of Baen are ready to help themselves as well as work with him to actualise his dreams”.
The people had in their address commended the unprecedented show of pragmatism, maturity and selflessness in political representation being exhibited by the senator adding “your role in the senate has given a new glimpse of hope to us as a people”.
They identified flooding, the state of the Model Health Centre, primary school, electricity and Central Water System as some of the issues plaguing the community.
At Kono, where he inspected the refurbished jetty, Senator Abe emphasised that People will remain a priority in his actions, since as he put it “during my electioneering campaign, I stood before several congregations in the House of God, asking Him not to allow me go to the Senate; if my sojourn there will not benefit the people”.
Senator Abe disclosed that, he will continue to reach out to his constituents with a view to drawing the attention of government and relevant development agencies to the plight of his people as well as initiating variables that would move the senatorial district forward.
Traders and other service providers who received him at the Kono waterfront praised his humility and accessibility adding that; he has “demystified the position of a Senator”.
