Group Marks World Peace Day

A group of youths from Okrika extraction in Rivers State under the umbrella of Renaissance Film Academy headed by Mr. Kelvin Ibanichuka on Friday September 21, 2012 marked World Peace Day with a rally walk from Niger Delta Development Commission in Aba Road to Moscow Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.
The walk started about 11.45 am as the youths embarked on road dance and entertained people who came to do business at the NDDC and its environs with real Niger Delta cultural dance.
They took the rally from NDDC all on foot only that some feeble ones rested in the lorry that conveyed them to Port Harcourt from their different homes. They followed the Aba express way through Garrison to Isaac Boro Park all the way to government house, entered Rivers state secretariat through the main entrance, came out from the exit and made their way through bank road and finally terminated at Moscow Road in front of the Court of Appeal.
Speaking to this weekly the co-ordinator, Mr. Kelvin Ibanichuka said that Renaissance is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) which appreciates Niger Delta leaders, including governors of the 9 states of the zone for working with the federal government amnesty in ensuring that the region is at peace.
He appreciated the repentant militants for surrendering their arms noting that it was their acceptance of peace that made the zone enjoy the peace that is now in place.
Also Kelvin thanked President Musa Yar’Adua for his wonderful approach to peace through underserved amnesty to the militants and enjoined President Goodluck Jonathan to sustain the path of his master as he implement the amnesty. ###
