The Kingoli, Fuamakiri and Orumokpo Group of Houses has rejected the appointment of Chief Kingsley Obudibo as the Chairman of Kalio-Ama Council of Chiefs.
The group of houses was reacting to a publication in a Port Harcourt based tabloid in which it was reported that the Chiefs’ Council elected one Chief Obudibo as its Chairman.
The Families of Kingoli, Fuarnakiri and Orumokpo said they have never discussed any issue relating to the election and inauguration of Kalio-Ama Council of Chiefs.
In a statement issued by the families and made available to newsmen in Port Harcourt on Monday, it described the inauguration of the said Council of Chiefs as “null and void”.
The statement which was signed by Chief Danise Kalio, Chief Amiemiemeaye Abbi and others, reads in Part: ‘We wish to categorically make it clear that no such election or inauguration was held anywhere. We will advise people to desist from making troubles in Kalio-Ama Community”.
According to the families, in a suit No WHC/181/201l, a Court has restrained the Okrika Council of Chiefs not to recognize or install any chief in Obudibo family in Kalio – Ama.
They said since Chief Obudibo is a party to the suit he cannot be elected to head the Kalio-Ama Council of Chiefs.
