2015: ACN Challenges Obasanjo Over Amaechi

The Rivers State Chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, has described a statement credited to former President Olusegun Obasanjo on the pair of the Jigawa State governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido and the Rivers State governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as President and Vice President respectively for the 2015 presidency as uncalled for and an invasion of the privacy of Rivers people.
The ACN while reacting to the unsavoury comment by Chief Obasanjo said in a statement issued and signed by its Publicity Secretary, Jerry Needam that it’s high time the former President put a stop to creating disaffection among Rivers people.
According to Jerry Needam, the political turmoil that has ravaged the State over years now was created by Olusegun Obasanjo.
But for the bad blood generated by former President OBJ that tore apart the larger family of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the then strong political structure that was all inclusive under Gov Peter Odili would still be intact, the statement added.
The ACN Spokesman wondered what would have convinced Obasanjo about the capability and credibility of Chibuike Amaechi whose governorship ambition in 2007 he described as having K-leg.
Jerry Needam argued further that it’s not for Obasanjo to decide who occupies what political office for the people of Rivers State, and should rather engage himself with the more complicated political problems in his own State, Ogun.
From the actions and utterances of people like Obasanjo in PDP in and out of office will show that the problem of the party is genetic and therefore Obasanjo lacks the moral authority to make any proposal for Nigeria having failed as a president for eight years.
Chief Obasanjo perhaps, needs to be reminded that the atrocities and corrupt practices initiated by his administration which are still haunting the nation till date are not yet lost on Nigerians and must not also forget that the days of reckoning are not over and must surely come even if he thinks the only way out is to be privy to who becomes president”, the ACN concluded.
