Workers working in the federal secretariat, especially those in the paramilitary, were on Monday, July 16, 2012, sensitized to invest in and own shops in the Nigerian Airforce Shopping Boulevard due to start this August, in Port Harcourt.
The NAF Shopping Boulevard will be located at a land space between Nigeria Airforce and Eliozu, redeveloping the existing mammy market into modern facility that features world-class architecture and world class facilities.
As described, the market will host 20,000 lock-up shops, 30 wharehouses, 15 coldrooms, 12 banks, 12 office buildings 12 eateries a fire station, a health centre, a police post, a sewage treatment plant and parking space for 2, 500 vehicles.
It’s also expected to be a relaxation and tourist site providing cinema theatre, modern elevator and escalators, among others.
Speaking to news men, the Managing Director and Chief Architect of the project said that the project was the brain child of the Nigeria Airforce boss who introduced it to the governor of Rivers State.
According to the MD, this project is going to be the new beginning for the uplift of Rivers People as it would bring so many good things to the state including job opportunities and that those who lost their shops through demolitions going on in town would regain shops.
He called on interested persons to pick application forms now to enroll, adding that a shop goes at the rate of N3.5m, if he is a civilian while those in uniform will get it at the rate of N3m, and that it may appreciate in future. ###
