Investigation revealed that the people of Ahoada East Local Government Area are going about their lawful business despite the plot by some people to destabilize the council. Our reporter who visited the area discovered that the people are law abiding, peaceful and will do everything possible to protect the existing peace in the area, this is coming from the backdrop of some sensational report from Ahoada East LGA reported by some tabloid.
It was however reported that the person who petitioned the Local Government Chairman High Chief Cassidy 0. W. Ikegbidi was a former Councilor representing ward 7 in Ahoada Local Government Area Mr. Bright Nelson who have a running battle with the Chairman of the Council as a result of his failure to execute his constituency project which amounted to 4 Million Naira for a water project and when asked to render account he rather plotted to unseat the Chairman of Council, calling a dog a bad name in order to hang.
It was also discovered that some people are playing the script for Hon. Bright who is bent on removing the Chairman by all means. Other revelation indicated that there are people who are afraid of Hon. Ikegbidi’s political prowess who have lose out in the Ahoada East politics and are looking for ways to use Mr. Bright Nelson to achieve their aim of causing disunity to the detriment of the people of the Ahoada.
Some of those who spoke their minds stated that the former Councilor did not have any moral justification to petition the chairman because he who need equity must come with clean hands. Another shocking revelation from the grape-vine confirmed that this same Mr. Bright was arrested during his tenure for issuing out a dud cheque and was arrested and detained but the chairman pleaded on his behalf.
On the issue of the report before the House of Assembly against the council chairman, there is an insinuation that the report will be bias since the House Committee Chairman on Ethics and Privileges and also the Deputy leader Hon. Nname Robinson Ewor can not be a Judge in his own case since he is from the same Local Government and has shown interest in the petition and can not be neutral on the matter against the Chairman Hon. Cassidy despite that the report is out because Hon. Ewor is always at loggerhead with the Council Chairman.
It could be recalled that there was a similar dispute between the duo on an electricity project when the council chairman was also dragged to the House of Assembly, this has led to a cold war between them. In another development, some youth of Ahoada East Local Government Area are now calling on the former Commissioner of Finance Rivers State, former House of Assembly Member, and a one time House Representative Member of Ahoada East Local Government Area Hon. Osinaka Chuwku Ideozu to render his account of stewardship for the past eight years he occupied and represented the people of Ahoada East especially regardin his constituency project from the days of the Assembly to the days of House of Representative. This is the time he will come to render account to the people they demanded. The people of Ahoada East therefore pleaded that proper investigation should be made before acting on the report just released by the House of Assembly. ##
