Frequent Overseas Travels: Waste Of Public Funds, ACN Tells dministrator GPHCDA

The Action Congress of Nigeria, Rivers State Chapter has described as worrisome and waste of public funds the penchant for overseas travels by the Administrator of Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority, Mrs Aleruchi Cookey- Gam at the expense of the authority.
The Party’s Publicity Secretary, Jerry Needam was reacting to the arrival from Singapore of the Administrator of the GPHCDA, Mrs Aleruchi Cookey-Gam and political cronies of Governor Amaechi who are members of the board of the Authority.
The party described the recent two week stay in Singapore, with retinue of aides and acquaintances as a mere jamboree, sightseeing, unproductive, unhelpful to the actualization of the dreams of a Greater Port Harcourt and complete waste of Rivers taxes payers money.
“We shall hold the administrator accountable to any resources of the authority mismanaged and recklessly spent”, the party threatened.
The party also said they shall be writing the authority in the days ahead, taking sufficient lead of relevant sections of the Freedom of Information Act to demand explanations on the activities and detailed records of income and expenditures of the authority.
ACN condemned the Administrator of GPHCDA for using the resources of the authority to cruise from one country to the other, adding that she has virtually relocated to Washington as she is spotted in that country almost on monthly basis.
The Administrator should wake up to the new reality and explain to Rivers people why the Greater Port Harcourt City Project is still on paper, over three years today, in spite of about 100 billion naira allocated to the authority. We also call on public office holders to manage public utilities and resources at their disposal with the fear of God”, ACN said.
