Murder of ANPP Chairman condemnable, Rivers PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers state has condemned the murder of Elder Julius Nwaofu, the state Chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP.
In its reaction through Mr. George Ukwuoma-Nwogba, the publicity secretary, PDP described the murder as an ill-wind that blows nobody any good.
“The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, condemns the murder of Elder Julius Nwaofu, an easy-going politician who committed himself to the growth of democracy in Rivers state. We could not have imagined this abrupt end to his sprawling life, when the PDP-led administration in the state is doing its utmost commitment to giving the people conducive environment to excel in their professions.
“We condemn this backward step no doubt engineered by hawkers of retrogressive wares. While we sympathise with Elder Nwaofu’s family, we trust that security agents will do thorough investigation to bring to justice perpetrators of this most heinous bastardisation of our sanity. We advise that comments that would derail productive investigations be avoided. The Rivers State Police Command has competent men and materials to track down those responsible, and we so challenge them.”
The PDP further stated that in times like the moment, politics should be discarded for real sympathy with those mourning.
“The PDP sees this time not as one for playing politics but which calls for collective sympathy with the family. Politicians should mortify sentiments at such period in honour of the dead and respect to those mourning the loss of their loved ones.
Ukwuoma-Nwogba further tasked residents of the state to be security conscious by co-operating with the police and other law enforcement agents. It said that security was everyone’s duty and should be so seen.
“It’s our prayer for God to comfort the Elder Nwaofu family and those he left behind.”
