WALGA To Use Education Summit To Develop

The Okrika Local Government Council has pledged its commitment to organize an educational summit that would aggregate educational challenges in the Local Government Area to further articulate measures to moving the education sector further.
The Chairman of Local Government Council, Barr. Tamuno Williams made the pledge while addressing Heads of Public Primary Schools of the Local Government Area in his office.
Tamuno Williams added that the Education Summit will be a platform for stakeholders in the sector to come up with ideas that would be aggregated for development indices aimed at transforming the area.
Chairman Walga stated that the Council will establish an Okrika Language Centre and adult learning centre in Ogbogbo to promote and sustain the learning of Okrika Language.
He announced that the Council will organize the first Okrika School Sports that will help fish out young talents in the area.
Tamuno Williams pointed out the challenges of teaching is increasing in scope, therefore, teachers must be prepared to face these challenges in order to address these nagging issues of teaching.
Walga Boss emphasized that teachers must be prepared to teach in this era where the ethos and values of society are decaying as a pointer to correct the negative aspects of these societal values.
He advised the head teachers as custodians of the educational sector in the area to key in the present realities of information technology age in order to raise the standard of education as the Council would provide the enabling environment to make this a reality.
Tamuno Williams enjoined the heads to carry their teachers along in order to create a peaceful atmosphere for effective teaching and learning as education is the cardinal front burner of his administration.
Earlier, the Chairperson of the Association of Priamry School Head Teachers in the Local Government Area, Lady Rose Ngeri Rowlands lauded the Chairman for his developmental and educational strides, especially the Council organized Summer Classes, Back to School Quiz and Debate Competitions, Bursary Payment, WASC Preparatory Classes and Post UTME Computer Classes which were geared towards educational advancement in the Local Government Area.
Rose Ngeri Rowalnds stated that the efforts of Tamuno Williams in the area on education cannot be equaled by anybody as he has restored the lost glory of education in the area.
She pleaded with the Council Chairman to assist the association in purchasing a vehicle for the smooth supervision and monitoring of schools and other educational programmes in the area.
