NDDC Opens Bid On Kira-Dere-Mogho Road …Receives Accolades From EFCC

The Niger Delta Development Commission has opened Bid on the Kira-Dere-Mogho road and bridge project connecting Communities in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State just as the Commission receives accolade from the EFCC over anti corruption war.
Speaking at the bid opening ceremony witnessed by NGO’s and Civil Liberty Organizations, Managing Director of the Commission, Dr. Christian Oboh disclosed that a total of six companies bided for the job.
“This is a major stage in the procurement process; we will pass these bids to the Procurement Unit for analysis to help us determine the winner”. The Managing Director said.
Chief Executive Officer emphasized that “the lowest bidder sometimes does not emerge winner, especially if he does not know what he is talking about” stressing that the Commission would be fair, just and equitable in the selection process.
Meanwhile the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has again applauded the NDDC Management over its anti corruption crusade.
EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde made the commendation at the Enlightenment/Sensitization workshop against corruption for NDDC Contractors/Consultants.
Mr. Lamorde who was represented by the Commandant, EFCC, Academy Unit, Mr. Ayo Olowonihi said the preventive strategies taken by the NDDC were commendable, stressing that the move has helped curtail corruption in the system.
This, according to him underscores the importance of the workshop which he described as “timely and a demonstration of the Management resolve to cleanse the NDDC of Corruption”.
In his speech, NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Christian Oboh represented by the Executive Director, Projects, Engineer Edikan Eshett explained that the enlightenment workshop aims at bringing awareness to the contractors and consultants on trouble spots in the course of executing contracts for the Commission.
“Unnecessary seeking for variation resulting to over inflation of contracts, abandonment of projects after receiving mobilization and other sharp practices are areas you must avoid otherwise you go to jail”. Dr. Oboh warned.
According to him the presence of the EFCC to organize the campaign is a warning signal to would be culprits.
