Dr Abiye Sekibo, former Transport Minister says the death of Navy Commodore Datoru Abbey-Kalio in the ill-fated Dana Airline Sunday. June 3, 2012 in Lagos State has remained a great source of grief and sorrow to him and his family.
According to Dr Abiye Sekibo, an elder statesman of Okrika, in his condolence message to the wife of Late Commodore Datoru AbbeyKalio, Mrs. Nkechinyere Abbey-Kalio and family, and the entire Okrika people, “Navy Commodore Datoru Abbey-Kalio was not just an officer of the Nigerian Navy but an illustrious son of Okrika, stressing that his immense contributions to the development and peace in Okrika cannot be over-emphasized.
“He was hard working and never found wanting in the performance of his professional duties and on how to improve on the security of our dear country, Nigeria, especially on our waterways”.
“Although death is a necessary end for all of us, you should take solace in the belief that Almighty God is the Author of life and he alone decides when to recall each of us,” Dr Sekibo who is a one time secretary to Government of Rivers State said in the condolence message.
“On behalf of my dear wife, and family I pray God to give you, his children, the good people of Okrika and all those who survived him the strength and courage to bear the irreparable loss” Dr Sekibo prayed.
