In order to match with the educational development being the priority of governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, the Opobo/Nkoro local government council says it is ready to deal with teachers from the area who refuse to accept his/her posting to the LGA henceforth.
Announcing this at a stakeholders meeting held in Port Harcourt recently, the LGA chairman, Hon. Maclean Uranta said the decision was taken in view of reports reaching him that some indigenes in the area do refuse to accept their postings for no just course.
However, Hon. Uranta promised to take care of any teacher after expressing much dissatisfaction at such attitude, as a way of enforcement to enable the teachers perform effectively.
He further announced that adequate arrangement has been made to commission a mortuary in Opobo/Nkoro soon, adding that his council was ready to partner with any good non-governmental organization (NGO) so as to move development for ward in the area.
Furthermore, Hon. Uranta said he has planned to relocate line of water distribution in Opobo town soon.
The LGA boss who was not happy that the file containing the particulars of contract between CON/NDDC to transfer light to Opobo was lost in NDDC, stated that efforts would be made to trace the file for the commencement of the contract, while the security situation should remain intact.
The chairman appealed to indigenes from the LGA to come forward with any good proposal and support the council to move the LGA to a greater height. ####
