The epileptic nature of supply and distribution of electricity in Nigeria, has been said to be the bane on economic and technological developments in the country. One would therefore wonder how Nigerians will welcome this development, when they do pay for electricity bills that they never consume.
These and many more, were some of the issues that Mr. Alwell Adiele, Chief Orientation and Mobilization Officer (COMO) of National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Omuma LGA of Rivers State, tried to address, while making a presentation at the just concluded 2012 Children’s Day Celebration, held at State Primary School, Eberi Omuma.
In his presentation, Mr. Adiele called on the people of Omuma to ensure that whoever takes over from the Executive Chairman of Omuma LGA, Hon. John C. Anucha, at the expiration of his administration, would be a person that will care and carry them along, especially in the area of electricity supply in the LGA, which Hon. Anucha has been taking care of.
Alwell, used the progress that has been recorded in the telecommunication sector as a case study for the people to see how Power Holding Company of Nigeria PHCN would look like, when the sector is finally reorganized.
He therefore urged the people of Omuma to be patient with the little tariff adjustment that will commence on the 1st of June, 2012, believing that the end will justify the means.
Adiele however thanked the Omuma LGA, parents and schools for the wonderful opportunity given to their children to be part of the year’s celebration. ###
