Omuma LGA: Council Celebrates Children’s Day In Grand Style…It’s A Confirmation Of Peace & Stability – Hon. Leo Anyanwu

The picture of an event that took place in Omuma LGA, Rivers State, cannot be made clearer without recall to the very fact that most social and cultural activities in the land of Omuma were kept on hold, over the years as a result of the incessant kidnappings and other social vices that took over the entire place.
The just concluded 2012 Children’s Day Celebration that was held at the arena of State Primary School, Eberi Omuma and the subsequent party at the Council Headquarters, confirms the words of Hon. Leo Anyanwu, the Supervisor for Education, in Omuma LGA, that it’s a comfirmation of peace & stability
It would be recalled that Hon. Leo Anyanwu had on the occasion of the swearing in ceremony of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP State Exco, at the Party Secretariat, Port Harcourt, told journalists that peace and stability has returned in Omuma and strongly affirmed Omuma as a PDP owned L.GA.
The joy and enthusiasm that were exhibited by the pupils and students from Nursery, primary and Secondary Schools that participated in the Match-Past, despite the drizzle, was evident, that the ceremony was long over-due.
Giving his opening remarks before the council boss, Hon. John Anucha, ably represented by the Secretary to the Council, Hon. Uche Nwafor, Hon. Leo Anyanwu, Supervisor for Education and PDP State Secretary 3, said: “ The people standing before you are your children in Omuma, they have come to join their counterparts all over the country, to celebrate the Children’s Day, which they were unable to celebrate last year, because of certain circumstances which they cannot explain.”
He used the occasion to advise those schools that are yet to register with the council to do so through the office of supervisor for Education, to enable the council make adequate provision for them in subsequent events. In two categories of results announced by the Supervisor for Education, Hon. Anyanwu, State School Umuajuloke came 3rd, Community Primary School (CPS) Ohemoghe got 2nd position, while Divine knowledge, Umuwa-Oma, claimed the 1st position in primary category.
In the same vein, UBE Amoji made it to the 3rd position, Government Secondary School, Eberi-Omuma, clinched the 2nd position, leaving the 1st position for community Secondary School, Umuaguloke in the Secondary Category. Over 52 schools participated in the 2012 Match-Past.
After her presentation of books to the participated Schools, Mrs. Uche Anucha, wife of the Executive Chairman of Omuma LGA, urged the children to work harder in order to have more of the books from her, which she said was the good gesture of her husband to reach out to them. Mrs. Uche further advised the children at the party to be of good behaviour, obedience to parents, respect elders and show seriousness to school works, to shun cultism and examination malpractices amongst others.
Other dignities at the event include the Executive Vice Chairperson of Omuma LGA Hon. Mrs. Lucy Ngozi Nweke, Hon. Adiele Kingsley Eze, representing Ward 7 and Minority Whip of the house, who acknowledged the giant strides of Governor Amaechi, especially in the area of Education, Hon. Francis
Okpoko, representing Ward 8 and House Committee Chairman on Public Complain/Petitions. Others include Hon. Ubani Godson Chima of Ward 2 and Chief Whip of the house, Hon. Chinasa Onyezonwu, Special Adviser to the Chairman on Inter-Party Matters and other councilors at the event.
Both Hon. Adiele, Ubani Okpoko and Chinasa, who spoke with our correspondent, commended their boss, Hon. John C. Anucha and the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi for the peace that has returned in Omuma land. They expressed graduate to Hon. Anucha’s developmental strides in areas of Education, constructions of road, provision of electricity supply and the provision of a hospitable accommodation for the people and visitors in Omuma LGA. ###
