Okrika Local Government Council To Enforce Instant Laws Regulating Street Hawking

The Okrika Local Government Council has pledged its resolve to set up a monitoring team to ensure that children are not seen hawking including being naked during school hours, as this will help restore the dignity of Okrika.
The Chairman of Okrika Local Government Council, Barr. Tamuno Williams made this resolve while speaking at this Year’s Children’s Day Celebration at the council Secretariat.
Tamuno Williams stated that social vices like rape and sexual harassment shall no longer be tolerated in the area as those indulge in these acts shall be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
He remarked that Rivers State Child Right Law has been passed by the Rivers State Government as all forms of maltreatment of children have been abolished in the State.
Walga Chairman stated that, since the Rivers State Child Law has been passed, the Council will strictly enforce the law in the area.
Tamuno Williams emphasized that peace and security is an important culture that the people of Okrika must strive to imbibe, as it is the basis of oneness of Okrikans.
Walga Boss assured the children that the Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi is committed to the welfare of children, as he has provided free education and free Medical Services to Rivers State Children.
Tamuno Williams used the occasion to inform the children that the Council will organize Children’s Sports Festival to allow them show-case their talents.
He also informed the children that Council will give School Uniform to pupils and students in Public Schools in the are to complement the school uniform already given by his Excellency, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi.
Walga Chairman urged the children to be law abiding, obedient to their parents and authorities in order to contribute to the sustenance and transformation of Okrika Local Government Area.
