Reporter Shot By Unknown Assailant In Benin City

Edo State Commissioner of Police Mr. Olayinka Balogun, has confirmed the killing of Joshua Edeghagba, a journalist with Bronze FM, a station operated by the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria.
Late Joshua Edeghagba was said to be in company of two of his friends, around Mission Road in Benin City, on the evening of Tuesday, May15, 2012, when the shot that killed him rang out.
According to the source, in the melee that ensued, the other two young men with him ran to safety while expecting their friend to do same, not knowing that the shot had hit their friend and he had slumped.
He was rushed to the hospital, where he gave up the ghost, and his father, a retired military officer, was informed and the body subsequently deposited at the mortuary.
The stunned father did not believe his son’s friends initially because it was not long according to him, his son left their home that evening. It later dawned on him that his son was no more, and was really pained by the loss of his beloved son.
He called on the security agents to fish out the killers of his son and bring them to justice. # # #
