NDDC Commences Audit Of Ongoing Projects

In pursuance of its commitment to completing projects awarded since the inception of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), the Commission has commenced an audit of ongoing projects across the region.
The move is to enable it identify the status of such projects in order to prioritize the completion based on available resources.
The Managing Director, Dr. Christian Oboh announced this while responding to questions during a one-day stakeholder’s forum organized by the Presidential Monitoring Committee on NDDC in collaboration with the Commission in Port Harcourt.
The Commission, the NDDC Boss stated, was committed to ensuring that contractors deliver, but appealed to communities to join in the monitoring by reporting cases of delays and poor execution of projects.
“It may be difficult for us to be at every site every day or week, so we expect communities to call us, especially when contractors are not performing” Dr. Oboh said.
He disclosed that call centers will soon be set up as a way of creating avenues for faster means of communication between the commission and communities hosting its projects.
On project duplication, Dr. Oboh said with the inauguration of the Advisory Board consisting of host Governors, the Commission will now interface directly with the State Governments on project consideration.
“Once our budget is ready, we will not take it to the Presidency until the Governors have seen what we have done, he declared.
Also speaking, Chairman of the NDDC Governing Board, Dr. Tarilah Tebepah said that issues raised by the stakeholders would not be brushed aside.
Dr. Tebepah who was Chairman of the occasion, assured participants that the present Board will not deviate from its mandate no matter the level of intimidation and blackmail.
A communiqué was issued at the end of the forum.
