The President General, Niger Delta Non violence Youth Leaders Forum, and Rivers State Youth leaders Assembly, Amb. Prince Tonye J. has totally condemned the ongoing monorail project embarked upon by the Rivers State government under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, describing the project as a deliberate waste of fund and resources meant for Rivers youths capacity development.
The National president made the remark when briefing The Newswriter Tuesday, in his office after harvest of congratulations and commendations to the state governor over the challenging development going on in all parts of the state.
The peace ambassador described governor Amaechi’s projects in the state and the LGAs as a prayer answered by God and urged youth leaders of the state to gather around the governor for more landmark achievements.
Ambassador Prince T.J described Governor Amaechi as the governor of development who had channeled the resources of the state for posterity rather than fake administration as experienced in the past, but urged the governor to have a rethink on the socio-economic and political gains of the ongoing monorail project, considering the colossal amount running into billions of naira to be spent on the project that has no bearing with the youths of Rivers State.
Hear him, “We are made to understand that politically Rivers State has a population of six million people and if you now minus the strangers from different states that are here for their livelihood, the population of the youths in Rivers State cannot be more than three million, I believe. So if the governor agrees with me to channel 60% of the money to be spent on the monorail project, including the buildings that will be compensated to go out of the way, our Rives youths can be trained in different capacities and financially empowered. Each jobless youth with at least the sum of N500,000 could define his or her future and become men and women of tomorrow, because the major problems of our youths in Rivers State is poverty,” the peace Ambassador said.
On the soaring insecurity situation in the country by the Boko Haram sect, the National President made a word to the president and commander of the armed forces of Nigeria, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to remain calm and focus on the progressive business of the Nation and not to relent in shaping the policies and programmes of his administration to make Nigeria a proud nation in Africa.
The peace Ambassador also appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan to employ more security measures to contain the unexpected insecurity situation in the nation by the Boko Haram sect, describing their activities as barbaric and unconstitutional.
He further advised the youths of Niger Delta not to miss their focus on maintaining peace in the region, adding that the unlawful activities of the Boko Haram sect shall soon come to an end by the special grace of God.
“All that the Boko Haram is doing is to make our brother President Goodluck Jonathan uncomfortable to rule Nigeria where the Niger Delta man has a stake. I believe the members of Boko Haram are acting in ignorance, but a day shall come when they will know the importance of Niger Delta in sustaining Nigeria as a nation. We all must remain focused to ensure the smooth and successful administration of President Goodluck Jonathan. We will never follow them to go astray,” he stated
The peace Ambassador declined comment on the fuel subsidy wahala and the meticulous and faithful implementation of the House committee report on the fuel subsidy.###
