The employment of academic and non-academic staff into primary and post primary schools currently going on in Rivers State may disappoint applicants if what is being rumoured is not averted.
It was gathered that as the governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi hands off employment of staff into primary and post primary schools in the state, top members of the ruling party and some Government functionaries had piled up list of their favourites which according to our source, should be taken.
It was also gathered that the interview for recruitment into this labour force will be contracted to an independent firm and that the interested parties are aiming to do their wicked deal through this firm.
However, Allwell Nyeso, Chairman of the Post Primary School board told newsmen at the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex yesterday that the interview is going to be conducted by a neutral body after which the successful persons from the interview will then face the real screening which the board will conduct.
This, the Chairman said at the end of a one day public hearing, of the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Amendment Bill 2012, organized by the House Committee.
During deliberations on the bill, private schools owners disputed that the bill is irrelevant as it favours public schools alone and has nothing to do with private schools, explaining that a school being what it is, is there to train younger ones.
This was disputed by teachers from public schools as they argued that private schools owners are using unqualified teachers in their academic pursuit, but the Committee Chairman pointed out that private schools have represented the state nationally, internationally in quiz competitions and brought honour.
The Chairman also asked the both sides to bury their differences and bring ideas that will make good law that will sustain Universal Basic Education in the State. ###
