Asalga Boss Sacks Over 200 Workers

The Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, Mr. Ojukaye Flag Amachree has approved the termination of the appointments of over 200 workers in the council.
The Head of Local Government (HLG) Mr. Daniel Iruene disclosed this during a meeting with the affected workers in his office.
He said, the sacked workers who were mainly from the Health Department never met the requirement to be staff of the council.
Mr. Iruene alleged that the affected staff were not nominated by the council to the Rivers State College of Health Science and Technology and as such were not employees of the council.
Reacting to the development, the Chairman of Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, Asalga Chapter, Comrade Saliye Jackreece said, the sacking of over 200 workers would pose a great threat to the healthcare delivery in Asalga and advised the management of the Council to have a rethink. ###
