Abe Pays Fees For 320 Students

As part of his campaign promises, the Senator representing Rivers South-East in the National Assembly, Senator Magnus Abe has paid school fees for less privileged final year students from the district in tertiary Institutions across the State.
About 320 students drawn from the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State University of Science and Technology, University of Education, Rumuolumeni and Polytechnic Bori benefited from the gesture.
The process was driven by a technical committee consisting of National President of student unions in the senatorial district.
The move that came into effect less than three (3) weeks after the Senator addressed the National Union of Ogoni Students Worldwide in Bori, headquarters of Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State is another first in the history of representation at that level in the district.
Represented at the event by Dr. Innocent Barikor representing Gokana Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Senator Abe enjoined the students to pursue policies and programs that would enhance academic development in Ogoni land.
“You must grow beyond student’s politics and see yourselves as leaders of tomorrow by saying no to violence, disrespect for constituted authorities and other vices that could truncate your future”. Senator Abe said.
Chairman, Khana Local Government Area, Gregory Nwidam, represented by his Vice, Barine Nwilo advised the students to reciprocate the Senator’s gesture by showing commitment to their studies towards entrenching academic excellence in the district.
In his remarks, the President, National Union of Ogoni Students Worldwide, Comrade Meedubari Kuinen said the payment of school fees by Senator Magnus Abe was the first of its kind in the history of the district and promised his administration’s readiness to partner the Senator towards the attainment of enviable height.
