This was made known by the Commissioner for Works, Hon. Victor Giadom in his office during a meeting with the Executive members of Mile 1 Market Traders Association.
He stated that the completion of the market is in line with government’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for robust economic activities in the State and advised the traders to jealously guard the facility as their own as well as maintain good sanitary environment in the market.
Hon. Giadom also disclosed that his office will liaise with the Ministry of Urban development to ensure that traders selling along the road by the market are properly relocated.
It will be recalled that, the Commissioner had on April 6, this year mad a commitment to Rivers people that the Mile 1 market will be opened for use in the next 4 weeks.
In his reaction the Chairman of Mile Market Traders Association, Chief Young Obene Clark Georgewill commended the government for completing the market and pledged the support of his members to the present administration.
He promised that his members will ensure that the facility is adequately protected adding that good sanitary condition will also be maintained in the market. ###
