Kidnapped Catholic Cleric Breathes Air Of Freedom

Respite seems to have come the way of the kidnapped Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Nwika Gbidu, who was released unconditionally by his abductors at about 10pm, last Sunday.
His elder brother, Mr. Ledum Gbidu, confirmed that the cleric had regained his freedom.
His release brought excitement and merriment to his parishioners and well-wishers who were united in giving thanks and praises to the Almighty God for sparing his life.
It would be recalled that armed men struck at the residence of the Catholic priest, in Onne, Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State on Tuesday, April 12, 2012, and ferreted him to an unknown destination.
Informed sources speculated that his sudden release, apart from the effort of the security, was not unconnected with the clarion call by well- placed Nigerians and his well-wishers for the unconditional release of the cleric.
It was also confirmed by Mr. Ledum Gbidu that his younger brother, Rev. Fr. Nwika Gbidu, was at the hospital, shortly after his release, for a comprehensive health check and treatment for wounds on his face which was probably inflicted during his incarceration by his abductors. ###
