Dame Amaechi Okays Toby Inclusive Education Centre

The Wife of the Governor of Rivers State, Dame Judith Amaechi has described the commissioning and dedication of the Christie Toby Inclusive Education Centre as timely and a remarkable effort in creating access for the physically challenged.
Speaking while commissioning the Christie Toby Inclusive Education Centre, at lriebe, Dame Amaechi said, persons with disability have the right to live and excel emphasizing that some of them have brought honour and laurel to our country in sports and academics.
She noted that disabled persons have created impact and contributed to the growth and development of our economy and this informed the action of Governor Chibuike Amaechi to initiate a policy that would protect their rights and privileges as well as enable them have access to basic education.
The Governor’s wife disclosed that physically challenged persons who distinguished themselves in academics have been awarded scholarships to study abroad, because access to education is the surest way to empower them economically, socially and otherwise.
She commended Dame Christie Toby for her effort in making a remarkable contribution to the education sector which serves as a great source of inspiration to the ESI education initiative.
Earlier, the MD/CEO of Christie Toby Education Centre, Dame Christie Toby expressed gratitude to God Almighty for the vision of the school for the physically challenged.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Christie Toby Inclusive Education Centre, Sir Gabriel Toby assured that no child that is willing to go to school would be denied education for reasons of physical impairment.
In his speech, the Chairman of the occasion and member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kingsley Chinda commended the MD of the Education Centre for the vision anc1Lurged people to give necessary support and encouragement to the physically challenged.
In the same vein, the Principal of Christie Toby Inclusive Education Centre, Mr. Oludayo Thompson stated that Inclusive Education has become the most recent approach in Education delivery as it embraces all children irrespective of their background and special needs.
In her vote of thanks, the Commissioner of Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari thanked the wife of the Governor and commended her for her passion for children. ###
