13 Entries For Film Competition In Rivers State

The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari today handed over 13 entries for the Film Competition organized by the Ministry to the Panel of Judges, headed by a renowned playwright, Mr. Adiele Onyedibia.
Mrs. Semenitari said the Film Competition which is focused on the Dangers of Illegal Oil Bunkering is geared towards encouraging a creative economy and the dangers associated with bunkering.
According to her, the competition would be used to bring back the Art culture and creativity in the State which has been forgotten, adding that Rivers State used to be a centre of creative economy in the region in the past.
She said, 120 young indigenes of Rivers State were last year sponsored to New York Film Academy to study Film Production as part of government’s capacity building programme.
Mrs. Semenitari added that the competition which is to be an annual event, apart from the cash price of N2million would afford the winner to produce a full length film to be sponsored by the Ministry.
Members of the panel of judges are Mr. Adiele Onyedibia Chairman, Professor Leopold Beligam, Mrs. Maureen lhua, Mr. Sam Dede and Emem Isong.
Responding, Mr. Adiele Onyedibia on behalf of the panel thanked the Commissioner for the honour accorded them as State indigenes to handle the competition and promised to put in their best to promote the culture of the State through the competition.###
