Rumukwurusi Youths Elect President, Others

A new youth president has emerged in Rumukwurusi Community of Obio/ Akpor LGA of Rivers State. The election took place at All-saints Primary School, Run,ukwurusi, on April 1, 2012, where Mr. Clinton Wehere, Osi Worsu, Godstime Ogechi Uche and Aleruchi Agbaraka contested for the position of Youth
President.
Prior to the election, the Electoral Committee (ELECO) Chairman, Prince Kingsley Ebere Chiorlu, advised, the youths to maintain peace and orderliness, pointing out that there would be room for decamping once the election commenced, while the Executive Vice Chairman of Obio/Akpor LGA, Hon. Solomon Ekeh, alerted the youths on the presence of JTF, Police, SSS and other security agencies from the state and the need to maintain peace, during the election.
At the end of the open election, for the position of Youth President. Mr. Godstime O. Uche, polled 352, Aleruchi Agbaraka, 2 votes, Mr. Clinton Wehere, 278 votes and Osi Worsi, 314. For Vice President, Mr Okeah Hope, polled 225 votes.
Worgu Ogunda Endwell, secured 218 votes to out run Marshal Ihunwo, who got 15 votes in Secretaryship position. Chisom Azubuike had 33 votes against 99 of Nwokeoma Eze Smith, in the post of Assistant Secretary. In the absence of Charles Amadi, Egbula AIwell had 141 votes to surpass 94 of Chuku Solomon in the position of Public Relation Officer (PRO).
The position of provost 1 went to Franklyn Worgu Onyema, who secured 80 votes in the absence of his fellow contestants, Prince Worgu, while the post of provost 2, went to Elewa Nicholas, who polled 71 votes after his immediate contender, Lucky Amadi, withdrew from the race to support Elewa Nicholas.
Certificate of Returns were issued to all the winners of the elections and were urged not to let the efforts of the people that elected them into office to be in vain by the Executive Vice Chairman of Obio/Akpor LGA, Hon. Solomon Ekeh.
Speaking with Journalists at the end of elections, Chief Chidi Uche, senior brother to the newly elected Youth President, Godstime 0. Uche, commended the youths of Rumukwurusi on the peaceful conduct of the elections. He used the medium to congratulate Hon. Timothy Nsirim JP, Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor LGA and Chief Nyesom Wike, Minister of State for Education, for their good works in the council, urging the new Chief of Staff in the state, Hon. Tony Okocha, to continue his loyalty to superiors, which he has been known for, while discharging his duty, to the good people of Rivers State.
In the same vein, Comrade Henry Orianwo, who earlier had interest in the position of Youth President, also congratulated the youths of his community over the elections and solicited for government support at all levels, for the newly elected president, to enable him deliver the dividends of democracy to the youths of Rumukwurusi, believing that the Youth President cannot drive home the desired expectations of the people, if he does not have government backing in his dealings with companies operating in the community.
Meanwhile, the Community Development Committee, CDC, Chairman of Rumukwurusi Town Council, Comrade Nyebuchi Nanna, has called on the new president to carry everyone along, in order to succeed in his administration. He used the medium to disclose some of the achievements of his administration in the last three months as the CDC Chairman; which includes the construction of a link road from MTN to one of their communities, construction of an office complex at Oil Mill Market and the provision of Skill Acquisition Centre where computers and cooking utensils are provided for the people of Rumukwurusi. ###
