Towards fast-tracking development in the region, The Niger Delta Development Commission is to access donor agencies funds to compliment its statutory allocation.
Managing Director of the Commission, Dr. Christian Oboh, who announced this in Port Harcourt, said the enormity of challenges coupled with paucity of funds have made it imperative for the Commission to seek the assistance of donor agencies.
Dr. Oboh remarked that no single Agency has the answer to the challenges in the region, but partnership between service providers, including Donor Agencies would provide better result.
“We are looking at partnership because what we are having in terms of funding is not enough to develop the area considering the terrain, there are Donor funds all over the world, we intend to access them” he said.
The Managing Director who pledge utmost frugality in funds management pointed out that the era of mismanagement and misappropriation at the NDDC was over.
He called for cooperation and support to enable the Commission achieve success in the implementation of its programmes in the region.
