State Congress: Rivers PDP Returns Chief G.U. Ake It’s A Reward Of Good Work

The Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had over the weekend, Saturday, 17th March, 2012 held its state congress. The event which took place at Alfred Diete Spiff Civic Centre, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, had the presence of all delegates from the 23 LGAs in the state.
In his brief remark after the dissolution of the formal state exco as moved by Senator George T. Sekibo, representing Rivers East, Chief Godpower U. Ake, thanked the people of the state particularly the delegates for the enabling environment, upon which he served.
At the end of the voting process that lasted about 8 hours from Abua/Odual to Tai in alphabetical order of the 23 LGAs of Rivers State. Chief G.U. Ake, the incumbent chairman of PDP in Rivers State, polled a total number of 777 out of 821 votes cast; while a total of 44 votes were voided. Consequently, Chief G.U. Ake, his deputy, Mr. Dagogo Eli-Leggjack and others were declared winners and are to pioneer the affairs of the party for a second tenure.
Addressing delegates at the end of the election, the state governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, through his representative, Engr. Tele Ikuru, Deputy Governor of the state, thanked the re- elected PDP Chairman of Rivers State, Chief G.U. Ake for the wonderful work he has done in the state, adding that Chief Ake’s re-election was a manifestation of his antecedents. He congratulated all the elected candidates, particularly those that could not make it to the second tenure. Hon. Amaechi further commended the state senators and honorable house members that were present at the congress, for taking their time to witness and be part of the event.
The Deputy Chairman, Mr. Dagogo expressed gratitude to God Almighty, the, state governor, Chief Ake, delegates and the media, for the possibility of everything.
Similarly, Hon. Bestman Amadi, executive Vice Chairman of lkwerre LGA, Rivers State, commended the re-election of Chief G.IJ. Ake by the state PDP. Hon. Amadi maintained that Ake’s reelection was a testimony of the fatherly wisdom and experience that he brought to bear in the affairs of the party in his first tenure. Amadi reiterated that the relative peace being enjoyed in the state can’t be unconnected with his support to the administration of Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi as the state party chairman. Hon. Bestman, who made the commendation at the child dedication ceremony of his council member, Hon. John Ogundu, in Port Harcourt used the occasion to congratulate Governor Chibuike Amaechi on his good works in the state.
Amadi, who described Amaechi as a father to him, added that the history of his life will never be complete without the mention of Rotimi Amaechi and enjoined those looking up to a day like the Ogundu’s to keep faith in God.
However, Hon. Nkuturum Joseph, councilor representing Ward 7 in Ikwerre LGA and House committee chairman on information, used the event of the child dedication as a point of contact for those that are seeking for the fruit of the womb and multiplication to entrust their hope and desires unto God. Hon. Joseph, as well expressed satisfaction on governor Amaechi’s dividends of democracy that is evident in the state. ###
