Nigerian footballers perform according to the welfare packages dangled at their faces, and most especially they have this always done to them at their oversea clubs.
A player who was performing here in Nigeria averagely would be surprised to become the hope of his clubside in Europe based on the treatment he was given. Same would be done to our Nigerian based players to bring the best in them out.
For a case in point, many Nigerian premiership league players are being owed months while still playing actively for the club each season. This almost shattered lots of players hopes hence the crazy for playing for Europe clubs.
For goodness sake, the players have responsibility to take care of most of the players are the bread winners of their households. Some have aged parents that depend on the income of their players sons. And such players are not paid for a total of eight months what do you want from their performances, as when club owners desperately need result for their club in good standing in the league table.
This was not the case in abroad. The moment a player is signed into any clubside abroad, the player is viewed like a king and is treated at such. Both bonus, match allowance, are never denied the player hence the player is spurred into action to provide his best to achieve results for his club, and again, for the player also to increase his welfare and pay package, he has to double his effort. This has not happened in Nigeria hence the best in the players back home in Nigeria never come out.
Let club owners understand that the players also are normal human beings like others who are existing on earth.
But if the players are not paid as when due how do you expect such player to play his best?
For the players to perform to optimum capacity, they have to keep body and soul together in good order, and to do that, their monthly salaries have to be paid to the players to procure clothings, eat and get the goods things of life for themselves, also to keep their dependants happy as to prove responsible sons and brothers. ###
