NDDC Boss Tackles Banks Over Contractors’ Funds

The Niger Delta Development Commission is to review relationship with Financial Institutions that make the process of accessing funds for project execution by the Commission’s Contractors cumbersome.
The Managing Director, Dr. Christian Oboh announced this when the Managing Director of Fidelity Bank Plc, Mr. Reginald Ihejiehi led a team of the Banks Officials on a visit to the Commission.
The Plan review, Dr. Oboh explained is necessitated by complaints from the contractors following difficulties encountered in the quest for funds to execute the Commission’s projects.
“We are going to review relationship with Banks that insist on getting approvals from their Headquarters in Lagos before funds deposited by the NDDC are released to our Contractors, we will not accept that again, give your branches authority to release funds to our Contractors”.
He assured that the Commission was will to partner Fidelity Bank as well as other institutions with the intention of developing the Niger Delta region.
“We will be willing to partner you, we are looking forward to when we can see Fidelity Bank named side by side with NDDC in some projects” the MD remarked.
In his speech, Managing Director of Fidelity Bank, Mr. Reginald Ihejiehi disclosed that the Bank was committed to sustaining existing relationship with the NDDC by keying into the Commission’s programmes.
