Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Hon. Samuel Eyiba says he is impressed with the developmental strides of the Chairman of Asari-Toru Council, Hon. Ojukaye Flag Amachree.
Hon. Eyiba made the remark at the Asalga Council Secretariat during his visit to the Local Government craft centre at Buguma.
The Commissioner stated that one important reason for the establishment of craft centres is to provide employment for the teeming youths in the State.
Speaking while conducting the Commissioner and his entourag to some of the projects in the area, the Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Ojukaye Flag Amachree, informed the Commissioner that NDDC had, done well in the award of contract to the amount of N250m to build youth development centre.
Hon. Amachree revealed that the Local Government Area is in partnership with the NDDC on the youths project which was why the council provided the land for the building of the craft centre and would also take care of the payment of workers and the maintenance of the place.
He hinted that his administration intends to connect all the communities in Asari-Toru to the national grid so that the problem of electricity in the area will be a thing of the past and added that already seven communities had been connected.
The Council boss also promised to complete the building of the market for the women in the area by April this year.
According to him, the market has about 216 shops, promising that he would ensure that about 260 women were given loan to the tune of N11m to enable them stand on their own. ###
