Today, rather than achieve that purpose Youth Corps members are slaughtered like goats on the alter of religious and tribal politics.
Today, Muslims and northerners who want to Islamise Nigeria, who want to force their own religion on the rest of us and kill us if we say No are now using an ethnic cum religious name to bomb, shoot, maim and slaughter the rest of us.
The one of Kano on the 21st January, 2012 is typical. Newswatch of February 6, 2012 reports that roads blocks were mounted on some major road in Kano and passers-by or residents were asked of their names and if you bore a Christian name, you would be shot dead.
The report states that several people were killed in that circumstance. Tobias Michael Idika, President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Kano chapter recounts that over 35 Ibos were slaughtered on that fateful day in Kano.
What else is a Jihad? I did history in the secondary school and was committed to it as my history teachers (Mr. J.K. Bema and L. Baadom aka Senator) can testify. A Jihad is an Islamic religious war on non-Muslims or infidels or unbelievers as they call non-conformists to the doctrines of Allah or Islam. Uthman Dan Fodio’s Jihad of 1804 was the greatest in the history of Nigeria. This was how llorin, a purely Yoruba land turned Fulani and today the Yorubas including the Afonjas are now leaving at the mercies of Fulani settlers and Jihadists. The Gambaris now become the Emirs of Ilorin instead of a Yoruba man to be the Oba or Alafin of IIorin, his home town. A case of Princes working as servants. IIorin and indeed, Kwara state has been Islamized.
A similar quest to Islamize Kaduna and Plateau states has constantly put the two peaceful states on fire even though Christians dominate the two states. The case of Kaduna which is seen as the power seat of the north is very deplorable. A Christian is Governor for the 1st time in the history of that state even though Christians constitute 60% of the total population of that state. I did my Youth Service there and I know what I am saying.
For Kano where I did my vocational training at the Nigerian Law School in Bagauda, I know of the high concentration of Ibos there especially in Yankura behind the large and expansive Yankura market on Ahmadu Bello way. I am convinced that Ibos would suffer great casualties if Jihadists get mad and start slaughtering Christians.
In the Ibo settlements behind the market you would see magnificent church auditoriums and houses which suggest that some of these Ibos already have Kano as their home.
Some have been there for over 30 to 40 years and have only managed to survive insane religious and ethnic violence visited on them for coming to settle in the north.
Truly, for those who continue to say that Nigeria will never disintegrate they are only dodging the obvious. Let us live separately. Enough of all these. Ibos are carrying their deads home in a newspapery everydayness, as it was in the pre-civil war days and yet we are saying Nigeria must be one. Nonsense! One Nigeria at all cost? One Nigeria at the mercies of religions miscreants and rifrats? Do you think that the political and military bigwigs in the north are oblivious of this systematic holy war against Christians?
Again, Newswatch of February, 6th 2012 Quoted Idika as saying,
“Security agents drafted to the troubled city found 10 vehicles filled with bombs and assorted improvised explosive devices, IEDs, in soft drinks cans in some parts of the city. The type of cars indicated that rich and powerful men must be behind the organization. They included a Honda CRV, Toyota Camry of different models, Honda Brahnia, a Volks Wagen Golf, a Toyota Corolla and two brand new Hilux open pick-up Vans. A Hilux can cost about N5 Million”.
I submit that northern politicians are only pretending not to know what is happening. They know what Boko Haram is all about. I venture to say that Northern politicians of Islamic inclination are only diverting attention when they claim they don’t know about Boko Haram operations. Even in Kaduna and Plateau states there is already a distrust and conscientious separation.
The Christians have tactically withdrawn from the Muslim heartlands. I am talking about indigenous Christians even. What unity are we talking about when the Jihadists have issued threats warning southerners and Christians to quit the north?
When these charlatans give you a quit notice and all some leaders say is One Nigeria and paying condolences to bereaved families? This is medicine after death. How long shall the president continue to weep and pay condolences? Are Christians and Southerners lambs or rams for Sallah? How long shall Christians and Southerners continue to be calm after each bomb blast and colossal losses? How many Muslims and Mosques have fallen since the Boko Haram? Why are they not killing their own big men? Why are they not burning Mosques? Why are they asking people of their names and shooting those not bearing Islamic names? Is it a Jihad of unity? Is there any unity even in the war against these terrorists especially when security agents of northern origin are also Boko Haram agents and spies? Why should northern politicians claim ignorance when they make inciting statements during their electioneering campaigns to get religious patronage? Infact, even in football, we can no longer unite to play or watch. Our big men are only united in corruption. Shikena.
Let us go our separate ways or let us talk now that we can still talk in Nigeria, else when a particular region or religion is slaughtered too much by a particular religion and region, the gods or God will fight for them to resist slavery or genocide. No leader can force unity on a failed state. Nigeria is a failed state. Why are we pretending? My grandmother once told me that a tree that makes a noise when it wants to fall does not hit people, because it has announced its fall and reasonably people will always avoid it. She also said that a hearing ear does not need to be as big as a bowler hat. Please let us separate now. Only those who benefit from the crisis and windfall of this failed federation still sing one Nigeria. One Nigeria because of what they are gaining and what they expect to gain in future. One Nigeria because of their mansions and ill gotten wealth. One Nigeria because they are afraid to speak the truth. One Nigeria because of political interest. One Nigeria because of unpatriotism to all those dying in the hands of these senseless idiots and their Oga.
If we can still talk, we need a National Conference to decide whether what we need is separation, a loose federation or a confederation. For me, I don’t think we need unity anymore.
Thank God people like Babangida has joined the likes of Prof. Wole Soyinka to advocate a National Conference.
It is a good development because, Babangida and his Military Government shall be part of the agenda to be discussed at such conference
One Nigeria when Kabiru Sokoto kills and maims innocent Christian and walks away from custody with adoration from his brothers and accomplices Zakari Biu and Hafiz Ringim and all they get for aiding and abetting this inglorious killer is house arrest and celebrated retirement. His Majesty Kabiru Sokoto is untouchable and unarrestable because he has big brothers in his region and religion. Let’s call a spade, a spade please.
Southern Sudan is now a new country after separating from northern Sudan and its oppression and killings because they are Christians.
Are we dying as martyrs of unity in Nigeria?
