The Niger Delta Development commission is to introduce e-payment in its dealing with contractors to check unnecessary delay.
NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Christian Oboh announced this when members of the Niger Delta Indigenous Contractors Association called on him at the Commission’s corporate Headquarters in Port Harcourt
Dr. Oboh explained that e-payment will enable both the commission and the contractors monitor the movement of the files, particularly to identify who or what is responsible for any delay.
He disclosed that 60% of the contractors have already been paid, promising that before the end of this month all those due will be paid. “I made a promise last year, I can tell you that we have delivered on that promise More than 60% of Interim Payment Certificate (IPC) have been paid” the NDDC Boss said.
On Advanced Payment Guarantee the chief Executive officer said “we have not made payment on APG’s because we don’t have the harmonized budget from the National Assembly, as soon as we receive that, we will pay, we have to know APG’s that are in the Budget”
Dr. Oboh called for patience from the contractors, adding that the Commission was desirous to clean up a minimum of 59 projects in the next few months.
