Fear Grips Port Harcourt Residents Over Bomb Discovery In Diobu

The residents of Azikiwe Street, University of Science and Technology, UST, back gate, Mile 2, Diobu, Port Harcourt, were in pandemonium when a commercial taxi driver discovered bomb planted in the vicinity.
Mr. Innocent, a general mechanic from Akwa Ibom State who was at the scene, said a Mallam was seen by a commercial taxi driver dropping something and moving away.
The taxi driver got to the scene and raised alarm when he discovered that it was a bomb, which alerted the residents of the area including the police at Illoabuchi road in Diobu Mile 2, Port Harcourt.
They were afraid to go close to the bomb, but some later summoned up courage dug out the planted bomb out of the ground.
The suspected Boko Haram sect member disappeared to an unknown place before the police anti-terrorist squad could arrived at the scene. Efforts were intensified by the anti-terrorist squad to trap down the suspect.
The leader of the squad assured the residents that they would do all their best to ensure that the suspect is brought to book.
Some of the residents who spoke to journalists decried the frequent bomb blasts by the Boko Haram sect which had claimed thousands of lives in the country and appealed to the federal government to take control of the situation to avoid the loss of more lives. ###
